Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep for timeout options and select a lower value
Minimize Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Under Device, tap Apps
- Make sure All apps is selected from the drop-down menu and select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop
- To remove the app from the device, tap Uninstall
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Under Personal, tap Accounts
- Select the desired account
- Change the accounts sync settings to reduce sync
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when unused, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings
- For GPS options, access Location > Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and turn Off the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery life, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and enable 2G
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to apply the update(s) note: the update process will require at least one reboot
