Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “status” bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value

Minimize Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Apps”
  3. Make sure “All apps” is selected from the drop-down menu and select the desired app
  4. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop”
  5. To remove the app from the device, tap “Uninstall”

Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Under “Personal”, tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the account’s sync settings to reduce sync

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. For GPS options, access “Location” > “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn Off the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery life, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to apply the update(s) note: the update process will require at least one reboot
