Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the homescreen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease brightness
- Open Settings and tap Display under Device
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout settings, tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location (GPS) to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Location for GPS settings, tap mode and enable Battery saving
- For hotspot, return to Settings
- Then tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the switch Off
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps from the phone to potentially improve battery life.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps and ensure All apps is selected
- Tap the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap uninstall
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce the amount of data synced by your accounts and apps.
- Open Settings
- Go to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account type
- Select the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available
- If available, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
