Clear an Apps Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, takes up to much storage inexplicably or otherwise causes issues, you can try solving these issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! By clearing an apps data, all your personal data stored in the app will be deleted, including user profiles, login information, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps > All apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have similar results as a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- At the Boot Mode Selection screen, release the keys
- Navigate the menu by pressing volume down and highlight Recovery
- Press Volume Up to select the highlighted option
- At the No Command screen press and release Power and Volume Up repeatedly to gain access to Recovery
- In Recovery, press volume down to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the option
- Finally ensure Reboot system now is highlighted and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default. To reboot in Safe Mode and remove apps:
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- From the power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Reboot to Safe Mode tap OK
- After the phone reboots, a Safe Mode watermark should be shown on the home screen. Open Settings
- Go to Apps and switch to All apps if necessary
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
- Exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone normally
