Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Access “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. For timeout options, access “Sleep”
  7. Select a lower timeout duration like “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Turn “Battery saver” On

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You might improve battery life in the long run by disabling unused connectivity features to avoid unnecessary network scans when they are not actively in use. This includes Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi+Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features off
  3. Open “Settings” and access “Location”
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Go back to “Settings” and expand “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Access “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Expand “Wireless & Networks” and tap “Mobile networks”
  3. Tap “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can try to improve battery life by reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal” and access “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps can perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the device, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Switch to “All apps”
  4. Tap “Disable” or “Force Stop”
  5. Alternatively, tap “Uninstall” to remove the app

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if updates are available for download:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “System updates”
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the prompts to download and install the update
