could be a couple of things: first is the drivers (if using USB) aren't installed correctly. if that's the case go here and download them...if using a serial cable check your comm port. finally, if that don't work...get webjal at nextelmodz.com in the Tutorial section!
ok i installed the drivers i needed with myJAL and it still didnt work so i went and got webJAl and the same message popped up...i have no idea what to do here...im at the point where i wanna chuck this damn phone out the window?? any more suggestions anyone???

not only should the drivers be installed...but windows should recognize a new device when you first plug the phone in. that's the biggest problem with the USB that people have had.

If the phone connects and the ringtones is loading ok then at the last min it comes up with that error then you do not have it converted right. If you get that error when you try to connect to the phone then it is the phone or phone settings. Wav file should be 8000hz, 8 bit, mono. It you converted it then edited it you will need to convert it again. Ran into that alot.

hey im having the same problem with my phone... i get the same message that says that it wont connect to the phone.... but i was just wondering how to cahnge the baud rate on my cell phone...

what kind of phone do you have? If you have an error after it starts loading the file then it is the file and not the connection. If it doesn't even connect to the phone then it could be the baud but in 7 years I have maybe seen 2 or 3 times it was the baud rate.
