I suggest to all members to use this thread for comments, questions, new infos, firmware announcements etc, about Nokia 3200 model.

I think that this practice may be useful for all other Nokia models. One thread only for a specific Nokia model. So all info about a specific model will be easy to find it searching only one thread.

Java Virtual Machine bug in firmware V a3.08

Starting bugs report for Nokia 3200 with firmware version a3.08...

I noticed that Gameloft's game XIII v14.1.0 does not work on my Nokia 3200 with this firmware. The same game works perfectly on my Nokia 7210 with firmware version 5.52!

This is a bug for Java Virtual Machine of Nokia 3200. I get a java runtime exception on title screen "unable to load class a" and the game (of course) stops running.

Voice Recording not working at all...

Another big bug in firmware v. a3.08 is that Voice Recording not working at all. Does this feature work on your phone?

At my network operator (Cosmote) they said that this bug occurs only if you have a Cosmote SIM card. I think that it's not right. Voice recording must work as a voice memo too. Not only for recording a dial. So SIM card does not have any relation with this bug. Am I right?

yeah,... by right it shouldn't have any effect by which SIM card u use.... i don't experience faults in my fone though,... maybe u should try bringing it to Nokia Care....

    ...

hey, gpalouk... thnx for the info....!!

but just what does the support for the camera headset do?? it already have a camera rite...

btw,... just to make sure,... updating the 3200's software to a newer one makes no difference to the functions in it rite,... only clears all the bugs etc. away......

Yes, but the integrated camera is a CIF camera (352x288) and the camera headset I think that is a VGA camera (640x480). If it is not a VGA camera then I think it is not worth at all.

It is supposed to be. Generally, it's really happened.

    nokia 3200 specs

the nokia website said that the 3200 has midi 16.
does that mean it plays 16 notes simultaneously and can play them up to 16 value?

because i have 7250i now which is midi4 and it can play 4 notes at a time and up to a 4 polyphony value....

also i notice many ringtones from this site have less than 16 channels so that would make sense.

If the say it's got Midi 16 it means that it can play 16 different instruments simultaneously. Hmm... but I always thought that S40 phones were only 4-chord polyphonic. Just a doubt, still check it out.
Playing a number of instruments, and number of notes at a given time is different.

For example, in say Fur Elise, you have only 1 instrument i.e. Piano. But in the piano itself you are playing multiple notes together. That does not mean that the cell is using all it's channels.

Each instrument takes one channel and not each note. Like for instance you could play 128 notes on a 16 poly cell(it's practically not possible) by playing 128/16 =... 8 notes in each instrument of the 16 channels available at a given time.
What you lookin' here for ehhh?

thanks ski power people don't usually write back to me.

i understand the channel/note thing because mine is a "four cord" as you called it cuz i use pc suite to pick only four or less channels. i was just wondering about the trueness of the 16 value capabilities.

    Nokia 3200 thread & specs...

First of all, I suggest to discuss all the topics about Nokia 3200 in one thread

    Nokia 3200 (All about...) Thread

not because is a thread that I started myself but because is more convinient to have one thread for every Nokia model...

Suggestion for administrators: Could you make some threads, one thread for every nokia model to be first in thread list as your important notices or warnings..?? And not goes down deep in the list if you don't post a reply in some days...I think it is very convinient practice to have one thread for every nokia model and find all relative info in only one thread..

As for Nokia 3200's polyphony I can confirm that supports 16-tone midi polyphony. This means that if you have a 16 channel midi you can upload it to your phone (with Nokia Suite or OPM2) without sacrificing some channel. Just check in Nokia Suite that SP-Midi polyphony number is different for every channel and have values between 1 & 16.
