if you want it to work for cingular to be safe make sure you buy a Quad-Band phone because most tri-bands only have 900/1800/1900 frequencies and cingular uses the 850 frequency in a lot of areas so these tri-band phones wont work

'Unlocked' means the phones areb not locked to any specific service provider.
