Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Adjust Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider from the quick toggle area towards the left
- Open Settings and access Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep for timeout options and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features Off when not actively in use, like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and Hotspot, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Bluetooth Wi-Fi and Location (GPS) quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings and go to Location for GPS settings
- Tap mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by switching temporarily to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Expand Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You might be able to improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third-party apps.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Switch to All apps or Downloaded if necessary
- Select the desired app
- Tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Launch Settings
- Go to About phone > System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the prompts to download and apply the update
