Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout:
- Swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch Settings
- Go to Display and optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- Tap Sleep for timeout duration and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features off when they are not actively in use to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- Swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Bluetooth Wi-Fi and Location quick toggles to turn the features off
- Open Settings and access Location for GPS
- Tap Mode and select Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and expand Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Switch to 2G Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Expand Wireless & Networks > Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not in use. You can potentially improve battery life by removing or disabling unused third-party apps.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps and switch to Downloaded or All apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times.
- Open Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates and check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the prompts to download and apply the update
