Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings
- For GPS options, go to Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the features
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks > preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts sync settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account type and account
- Change the accounts syncing options to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process (NOTE: the update will require at least one reboot)
