Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: Your phones connectivity features like Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth can actively search for networks and affect battery life as a result. By disabling these features when not actively in use you can improve battery life.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) quick toggles to disable these features
- For more options open Settings
- Go to Location, tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- For Hotspot options, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the phone you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and access Apps
- Make sure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Disable / Force stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts sync settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account type
- Select the desired account and change its settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Verify if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
