Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, passwords, and settings to your backup account
  4. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps or the next time you log in with the backup account

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Got to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact syncing
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is checked then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up this way can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or by manually syncing the account data –and contacts- with the phone.

Back Up Media Files on a PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Navigate to the media files on the phone
  5. Copy and paste the files to the desired backup location on the PC
  6. After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a PC:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the phone and computer
  2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Navigate to the media backup files on the PC
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders from where they originate
  6. After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
