Enable Battery Saver Mode:

NOTE: When you enable battery saver mode, certain apps and services will not work / sync / update unless you open them. This is meant to preserve battery life. To enable Saver Mode:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Battery saver” tile to enable the mode
  3. To change when battery saver enables automatically, go to “Settings” > “Battery” > “Battery saver”
  4. Tap “Turn on automatically” and select an option

Decrease Screen Brightness:

NOTE: Decreasing your screen’s brightness can considerably improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap “Settings”
  3. Go to “Display” and tap “Brightness level”
  4. Disable auto brightness if necessary, and drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity

Restrict Background Data:

  1. Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Data usage”
  3. Access the “Cellular” tab
  4. Enable the “Cellular data” switch
  5. To disable background data for all services and apps, tap “Menu” > “Restrict background data” > “OK”
  6. To disable background data for a specific app or service, select the app / service and tap “Restrict app background data” > “OK”
  7. To group background data and send it at certain time intervals, enable “Queue cellular data”

Disable Connections When Not in Use:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling your connections features whenever they are not in use, such as Wi-Fi and Hotspot.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap “Settings”
  3. To disable all connectivity features, tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”, and enable “Airplane mode”
  4. To disable Wi-Fi, tap “Wi-Fi” and tap to turn off the switch
  5. To disable Bluetooth, tap the option and set the switch to OFF
  6. To disable Hotspot, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks” > “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the option

Forget a Wi-Fi Network:

NOTE: By forgetting saved Wi-Fi networks you no longer use, especially networks that use hidden SSID, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Wi-Fi”
  3. Enable Wi-Fi if necessary
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Saved networks”
  5. Select a network and tap “Forget”

Enable / Change How Location (GPS) Works:

  1. To disable Location, simply go to “Settings”, tap “Location” and tap the switch to “OFF”
  2. To change how GPS works, open “Settings” and tap “Location”
  3. Select “Battery saving”

Enable Flip to Save Power:

NOTE: You can enable gestures on the phone, and set it so that when you place the device facedown on a flat surface, it automatically enters sleep mode. To enable this feature:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Advanced interactions”
  3. Tap “Flip to save power” to enable the option
