Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Display and optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep
- Select a lower timeout value like 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features Off when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to disable the features
- Go back to Settings
- Access Location and tap Mode
- Enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes and this can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can remove or disable unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps > All apps
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type
- Tap the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Launch Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available for download
- If so, follow the prompts to download and apply the update(s). Note that the update process will require to reboot the phone at least once
