Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Open Settings
- Access Personal > Backup & Reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
- Enable Automatic Restore to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and account
- Make sure Contacts is checked
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
NOTE: Contacts can be restored automatically the next time you log in with the backup account or by syncing the account data and contacts manually with the phone.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable File Transfer / Media device at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the PC
- Locate the media files on the phone and copy them
- Transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC
- Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device form the USB port
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Android device to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable Media device / File Transfer at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Navigate to the media backup files on the PC
- Copy and paste the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
