Internal Memory (RAM) Management Tips

Viewing the Amount of Free Memory:

  1. From any of the home screens, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Go to the "General" tab
  4. Tap "Application manager"
  5. Swipe left until you reach the "Running" screen
  6. The amount of "Used" memory is shown at the bottom-left area of the screen

Reducing Memory Use:

Assuming that your phone runs slow, you may need to reduce the amount of memory is being used. To do so:

  • Remove Heavily Animated Widgets:
    1. While on the home screen, tap and hold the desired widget
    2. Drag the widget over the "Trash can" icon

  • Replacing a Live Wallpaper:
    1. From the home screen, press the "Menu" button
    2. Tap "Set wallpaper"
    3. Tap "Home screen"
    4. Select either "Gallery" or "Wallpapers"
    5. Follow the on-screen prompts to select a new wallpaper

  • Removing Unused Home Screens:
    1. Press the "menu" button while viewing a home screen
    2. Tap "Edit page"
    3. Tap and hold the home screen that you wish to delete
    4. Drag the home screen over the "Trash can" icon and release it

Using the Task Manager:

  1. While on the home screen, press and hold the "Home" button
  2. Tap the "Task Manager" icon
  3. Perform one or more of the following steps:
    • Active Applications: To close active applications, tap the "Active applications" tab and press the "End" button associated with the desired app. Alternatively, tap "End all"
    • Clearing RAM: tap the "RAM" tab and tap "Clear memory"

Internal Storage (ROM) Management Tips

Viewing the Amount of Free Storage Space:

  1. Press the "Menu" button while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Go to the "General" tab and tap "Storage"
  4. View the "Available space" value under "Device memory"


Your smartphone needs at least 200 MB of free space in order for the Android system to work properly. To free up more space you can:

  • Delete unnecessary text and multimedia messages
  • Transfer pictures and media files to a computer
  • Clear the browser cache, cookies and history
  • Clear Facebook app cache
  • Delete the call logs

Adjusting Memory Storage – Setting a SMS / MMS Limit:

  1. While on the home screen, tap "Messaging"
  2. Press the "Menu" button on your device
  3. Tap "Settings"
  4. Go to the "SMS / MMS" tab
  5. Tap "Text message limit" and set a limit, then tap "OK"
  6. Tap "Multimedia message limit", set a limit and then tap "OK"

Adjusting Memory Storage – Changing Gmail Synchronization Settings:

  1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Tap "Gmail"
  3. Press the "Menu" button and tap "Settings"
  4. Select your "email address"
  5. Tap "Days of mail to sync" and select another value, such as "3"
  6. Tap "OK" to confirm

Managing Applications:

In case your device is facing storage issues after installing a very large app, you can monitor this app and uninstall it if necessary.

  1. Press the "Menu" button while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to the "General" tab
  3. Tap "Application manager"
  4. Swipe left or right to reach the "Downloaded" screen
  5. To sort apps by size, press the "Menu" button and tap "Sort by size"
  6. To uninstall an app, tap it then tap "Uninstall" and confirm by pressing "OK"
