Creating and Sending a Message:
- While viewing any of the home screens, tap the "Messaging" icon
- Tap the "Compose" icon depicting a sheet of paper and a pencil
- Tap the "Enter recipient" field to enter a recipient manually. Alternatively, tap the "Contacts" button to select the recipient from your contact list
- You can add multiple recipients, and you can separate them using a semicolon ";"
- Tap the "Enter message" field and write your message
- When ready, press the "Send" button
Adding an Attachment to a Message:
- While composing a message, press the "attach" icon depicted as a paperclip
- Select one of the following options:
- Images: tap this to select an existing picture located in your "Pictures" list
- Take a picture: by tapping this you can temporarily exist the message, capture a photo and add it to your message
- Video: allows you to select an existing video from the Videos list and add it to your message
- Record video: allows you to temporarily exit the message and record a video to attach to the message
- Audio: by selecting this option you can attach audio file to your message
- Record audio: enables you to record a small audio clip and attach it to the message
- S Memo: you can add an S Memo that you have created previously
- Calendar: add events from your calendar
- Location: using this option, you can attach a thumbnail of a map showing your location
- Contacts: select an existing Address Book entry and tap "Done"
Adding Additional Text to a Message:
You can add text to a message, containing phone numbers, events from your Contacts, Calendar or a Memo, and more. To do so:
- Open the messaging app and start composing your message
- Tap the "Menu" key and select "Add text"
- On the "Add text" screen, select one of the following:
- S Note: you can insert text from an existing S Note
- Calendar: allows you to add a name, date and time of an event in your calendar
- Location: enables you to add an address to your message, alongside a link to the location on Google Maps
- Contacts: using this option you can add the name and phone number of one of your contacts
- Text templates: enables you to use pre-defined sentences and phrases
Message Options
You can access a wide range of options before and while composing a message. Here's what you can do.
Message Options Before Composing a Message:
- Tap the "Messaging" icon located on the home screen
- Before composing a message, press the "Menu" key to access the following options:
- Search: allows you to search through your messages
- Delete Threads: allows you to delete message threads
- Draft messages: shows you the list of drafted messages
- Locked messages: displays the locked messages
- Scheduled messages: shows the scheduled messages folder
- Spam messages: displays the messages located in the spam folder
- Settings: tap to access more Messaging settings
Message Options While Composing a Message:
- While writing a message, you can press the "menu" key to reveal the following options:
- Insert smiley: allows you to make use of emoticons
- Add text: using this option you can copy text from contacts, calendar or a memo and add it to your message
- Add to Contacts: allows you to add the recipient to the contacts list
- View contact: select this to view information on the recipient
- Add slide: allows you to add a new page to the message
- Add recipients: tap to add additional recipients
- Scheduling: using this option you can assign the current message for scheduled delivery
- Add to spam numbers: by selecting this option you will tag the recipient's number as spam
- Remove from spam numbers: remove the number from the spam list
- Discard: deletes the current message
- Translate: by tapping this you will launch a "Translate" pop-up menu. You can use this feature to translate messages
Deleting Messages
Deleting a Message Thread:
- Open the "Messaging" app
- Tap and hold a message and select "Delete thread"
- Tap "OK" to confirm
Deleting Multiple Messages Threads:
- Tap "Messaging" on the home screen / app drawer
- Tap the "Menu" key and select "Delete threads"
- Select each message that you wish to delete
- Tap "Delete" an tap "OK" to confirm
