Restoring Applications:
- Log in to your Google account if necessary
- Press "Menu" while viewing a home screen
- Tap "Settings" and access the "Accounts" tab
- Tap "Google" > "Sync all"
- Press the "Back" key
- Tap "Backup and reset"
- Mark / Uncheck the check boxes next to "Backup my data" and "Automatic restore"
Contact Restore
Restoring Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:
- Press "Menu" while on a home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Tap the "Accounts" tab
- Select "Google" or "Samsung", depending on what type of account you've used to back up your contacts
- Tap your "email address" at the top of the screen
- Mark the check box next to "Sync Contacts". If it's already checked, tap "Sync now"
Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:
- From the home screen, tap the "Contacts" icon
- Tap the "Contacts" tab
- Press "Menu" > "Import / Export" > "Import from SD card"
- Choose the account on which you want to restore the contacts
- Tap "Import vCard file" > "OK"
- Select the proper VCF file to restore, and press "OK"
Pictures and Media Files Restore
Restoring Media Files from the SD Card:
- Tap the "Apps" icon located on the home screen
- Tap "My Files" > "All files" > "SD card"
- Navigate to where the media files are store
- Tap and hold a file that you wish to restore and tap "Move"
- A list of available memory locations will be displayed. To choose a different location, tap "Create new"
- Tap "Move here"
Restoring Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Establish a connection between your smartphone and PC via USB
- On the handset, drag the "Notification" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
- On your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer", in the AutoPlay pop-up window
- Open a new Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the media files are backed up on your computer's HDD
- Copy the desired files, and paste them on your phone's storage. NOTE: the SD card icon represents the phone's external memory, while the "Phone" icon represents the phone's internal memory
- Once the transfer is complete, disconnect your smartphone
Restoring Media Files Stored on a Mac Computer:
- Use the USB cable to connect your smartphone to your Mac computer
- Drag the "Status" bar down from the home screen, and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
- On the computer, launch Samsung Kies
- In Kies, click the "Back up / restore" tab and open the "Restore" tab
- Mark the check boxes associated with "Photo", "Music" and other types of files that you want to restore. You can also click "Select all items"
- Click "Restore" and if necessary, follow any additional on-screen prompts
- After the transfer is finished, disconnect your smartphone
