File Transfer
Transferring Audio Files from a Windows Computer:
- Connect your Galaxy Light to your computer via USB
- On the home screen, drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device". Then, tap the "Media device (MTP)" check box
- From the AutoPlay pop-up on your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the desired audio files
- Copy the files and paste them on your phone's internal storage
- Once finished, safely disconnect your smartphone
Transferring Audio Files from a Mac Computer:
NOTE: follow the first two steps only if you don't have Kies on your Mac.
- On your Mac computer, navigate to SAMSUNG KIES and click "Download for Mac OS"
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install Kies on your computer
- Use the USB cable to connect your smartphone to your computer
- On your handset, drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device (MTP)"
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- From within Kies, click the "Folder" icon next to "Internal memory" or "External memory"
- Navigate to where you want to add the audio files
- On the Mac, open a new window and navigate to where the desired audio files are saved
- Drag the files and drop them in Kies
- After the transfer completes, disconnect your smartphone from your PC
Managing the Ringtone List
Adding Sound Files to the Ringtone List:
- From the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Settings" and go to the "My device" tab
- Tap "Sound" > "Ringtones"
- Tap "Add" and select either "Sound picker" or "Choose music track"
- Select "Always" or "Just once"
- Choose the desired audio files and tap "OK"
Adding Sound Files to the Notification List:
- Tap the "Apps" icon located on the home screen
- Tap "My Files" > "All files"
- Locate the desired sound files that you've transferred
- Tap and hold a file and select "Copy"
- Touch "Device storage" and select the "Notifications" folder
- Select "Paste here"
Setting Custom Ringtones
Changing the Ringtone for All Calls:
- Press the "Menu" button while viewing a home screen
- Tap "Settings" and access the "My device" tab
- Tap "Sound " > "Ringtones"
- Select the desired ringtone and then press "OK"
Changing the Ringtone for One Specific Contact:
NOTE: you can't set custom ringtones for contacts that are stored on the SIM card or the internal storage
- Tap the "Contacts" icon from the home screen
- Select the desired contact
- Tap "Edit" and select "Ringtone"
- Choose the desired ringtone and tap "OK"
- Press "Save"
Changing the Notification Sound:
- Press the "Menu" key while viewing one of the home screens
- Select "Settings"
- Go to the "My device" tab
- Tap "Sound" and select "Default notification sound"
- Select the desired audio loop and then confirm by tapping "OK"
