WARNING! Factory resetting your smartphone will result in loss of data stored on the handset's internal storage. This includes custom ringtones, downloaded content, applications, images and contacts. The device will return to its factory settings, but data stored on the SD card and SIM card will not be deleted.

Master Resetting Through the Settings Menu:

  1. If necessary, back up the data stored on the internal storage
  2. While on the home screen, press "Menu"
  3. Tap "Settings" and access the "Accounts" tab
  4. Under "Backup options", tap "Backup and reset"
  5. Optionally, clear the check boxes associated with "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data"
  6. Tap "Factory data reset" > "Reset device"
  7. In case you have screen lock enabled, you need to enter your password or PIN and tap "Continue"
  8. Tap "Delete all" to confirm

Master Resetting Using Hardware Buttons:

NOTE: use this method of resetting in case you can't reset your smartphone through the settings menu. Factory resetting your smartphone using hardware buttons will have the same result, and you will lose personal data on the internal storage.

  1. If possible or necessary, back up your data
  2. With the smartphone turned off, press and hold the "Volume up", "Home" and "Power" buttons simultaneously
  3. After the phone vibrates, release the "Power" button but keep pressing "Volume up" and "Home"
  4. Once the "Android System Recovery" screen pops-up, release all hardware keys
  5. From the recovery menu, press the "Volume down" key until you highlight "wipe data / factory reset"
  6. Press "Power" to select the option
  7. Using the "Volume down" key, navigate to "delete all user data" and press "Power"
  8. When "Reboot system now" is highlighted, the master reset is complete. Press "Power" to select the option and reboot your device
