Audio File Transfer

Transferring Audio Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Use the USB cable to connect your phone to the computer
  2. On the SGSIII Slim, swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  3. Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
  4. In the AutoPlay window on the PC, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  5. Open a new Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the desired files are located on your computer
  6. Copy the audio files, and paste them on your phone's memory
  7. Once the transfer is complete, click the "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" icon from the system tray
  8. Safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer

Transferring Audio Files from a Mac Computer:

NOTE: skip the first two steps if you already have Kies installed on your Mac

  1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac and visit SAMSUNG KIES
  2. On the webpage, click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen instructions to install Kies on your computer
  3. Establish a USB connection between your smartphone and computer
  4. On the SGSIII Slim, drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device (MTP)"
  5. Open Kies on the computer
  6. In Kies, click the "Folder" icon next to "Internal memory" or "External memory", and navigate to the location where you want to add the music files
  7. On the computer, navigate to where the desired audio files are located
  8. Drag the files and drop them in Kies
  9. After the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your handset

Making Transferred Audio Files Ready for Ringtones / Notifications

Adding Audio Files to the Ringtone List:

  1. From the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings" > "My device"
  3. Tap "Sound" > "Ringtones"
  4. Tap "Add" and select either "Sound picker" or "Choose music track"
  5. Press "Always" or "Just once"
  6. Select the desired audio file and tap "OK"

Adding Audio Files to the Notification List:

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon located on the home screen
  2. Tap "My files" > "All files"
  3. Locate the desired audio files
  4. Tap and hold a file and tap "Copy"
  5. Tap "Device storage" and open the "Notifications" folder
  6. Tap "Paste here"

Personalizing Ringtones and Notification Sounds

Changing the Ringtone for One Contact:

NOTE: you can't assign custom ringtones to contacts located on the phone's internal storage or the SIM card

  1. Tap the "Contacts" icon located on the home screen
  2. Select the desired contact
  3. Tap the "Edit" icon depicting a pencil
  4. Touch "Ringtone"
  5. Select the desired ringtone and tap "OK"
  6. Tap "Save" to assign the ringtone and exist edit mode

Changing the Ringtone for All Calls:

  1. Press the "Menu" key while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Access the "My device" tab
  4. Tap "Sound" > "Ringtones"
  5. Select the desired ringtone and tap "OK"

Changing the Notification Sound:

  1. From any home screen, press the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "Settings" and access "My device"
  3. Tap "Sound" > "Notifications"
  4. Select the desired notification sound and tap "OK" to assign it
