Transferring Contacts Using your Google Account:

You can sync the contacts saved on your smartphone with your Google account, thus allowing you to get your contacts from the Note II on the SGS5. This is one of the most common methods of transferring contacts between two Android devices, and it works as follows:

  1. Log in with your Google account on the Note II
  2. From the home screen, press "Menu"
  3. Tap "Settings"
  4. Select "Google" under "My accounts"
  5. Tap your "email address" or "user name"
  6. Clear and mark the check box associated with "Sync Contacts", or tap "Sync now"
  7. Switch to the SGS5 and log in with the same Google account as the one used on the Note
  8. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  9. Tap "Settings" and go to "Accounts" under "User and backup"
  10. Select your account under "My Accounts"
  11. Tap the account and press "Menu" > "Sync all"
  12. Your SGS5 should now import the contacts from the Google account

Transferring Contacts via Import / Export:

Using the contacts application, you can export the contacts from your Note II and transfer the resulting backup file to the Samsung Galaxy S5, either via email, or with the help of a computer. To do so:

  1. On the Samsung Galaxy Note II, tap "Contacts" from the home screen
  2. Access the "Contacts" tab
  3. Press "Menu" and tap "Contacts to display"
  4. Select "All contacts"
  5. Press the "Menu" button and tap "Import / Export"
  6. Tap "Export to SD card". NOTE: you should write down the backup file's name
  7. Tap "OK"
  8. Open your email application and compose a new email with the backup VCF file attached to it
  9. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  10. On the Galaxy S5, open the email containing the file, and download it on your phone's storage
  11. Next up, launch the "Contacts" app and press "Menu" > "Import / Export" > "Import from SD card". If necessary, select the account on which you want to import the contacts, and load the transferred VCF file

NOTE: you can share the VCF file without having to send it via email. To do so, create the backup file, then connect both smartphones to a computer via USB. Next, find the file, and transfer it from your Note II to your Galaxy S5. Then, import the file's contents using the "Contacts" application

Sending Contacts via "Send Anywhere":

Send Anywhere is an application that allows you to send numerous types of files from one smartphone to another, including contacts. This app uses a P2P connection so you don't need access to a computer or email addresses.

  1. Go to the Google Play Store and install Send Anywhere on both Samsung smartphones
  2. Once installed, launch the app on both devices
  3. On the Galaxy Note II (or the sender device), tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  4. Mark the contacts that you wish to share, and tap "Send"
  5. Lastly, select the desired method of transfer. By tapping "Generate QR Code" on the Note II you can create a QR code which can be scanned with the SGS5's camera. Alternatively, you can tap "Receive" on the Galaxy S5, and type in the randomly generated transfer code from the Note II
