Clearing an App's Cache and / or Data:

NOTE: In case one of your applications is not working properly, then you can try to fix these issues you're experiencing by clearing the app's cache and / or data.

WARNING! Clearing an application's data will result in the deletion of all personal information stored in the app, including saved games, high scores, profiles, user information, credit card information etc. As such, it's recommended that you try to fix the application by clearing its cache first. If that fails, move on to clearing the data, but remember to create backups if necessary.

  1. While on the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
  2. Tap "Settings" > "More"
  3. Tap "Application manager"
  4. Go to the "All" tab and select the desired app
  5. Tap "Clear cache" and confirm with "OK"
  6. If clearing the cache has not helped, tap "Clear data" > "OK"

Wiping the Phone's Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is not working correctly and you're considering the option of applying a factory reset, then you should start off by clearing the phone's cache partition first. Unlike applying a master reset, clearing the cache will not result in the deletion of personal data. To clear the phone's cache:

  1. Turn off your smartphone if necessary
  2. Press and hold the "Home", "Power" and "Volume Up" buttons at the same time
  3. Once the phone vibrates, release the "Power" key but keep pressing the other two buttons
  4. At the "Android System Recovery" screen, release all hardware keys
  5. Press the "Volume Down" button to navigate to and highlight "wipe cache partitions"
  6. Press the "Power" key to select the highlighted option
  7. Once the cache partition has been wiped, the "Reboot system now" message will be highlighted
  8. Lastly, press "Power" one more time to reboot your device in normal mode

NOTE: if clearing the phone's cache hasn't solved the issues, you may have to factory reset your device. To learn how you can master reset the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, visit this link for a full guide.

  3. When the "Samsung Galaxy" splash screen appears, release the "Power" key and immediately press and hold the "Volume Down" button instead
  4. Keep holding "Volume down" pressed until the smartphone restarts
  5. Once the handset reboots, a "Safe mode" label should be present in the lower-left corner

Uninstalling a Third Party App in Safe Mode:

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon while viewing a home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Applications", tap "Application manager"
  4. Swipe to the "Downloaded" screen and select the app that you wish to remove
  5. Tap "Uninstall" > "OK"
  6. To exit safe mode, press and hold the "Power" key and tap "Restart" on the screen
