Restoring Applications:
- Sign in with your Google or Samsung account
- Access the phone's "Settings" menu
- Go to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
- Tap "Samsung" or "Google", depending on the type of account you wish to use
- Tap the "email address" at the top of the screen
- Tap "Sync all"
- Press "Back" to return to the "User and Backup" menu
- Tap "Backup and reset"
- Mark / clear the check boxes next to "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data"
Contact Restoration
Restoring Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:
- Sign in with your Google or Samsung account
- Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Scroll to "User and Backup" and then tap "Accounts"
- Tap "Samsung" or "Google", depending on the account that you've used for the backup
- Tap your "email address" situated at the top of the screen
- Mark the "Sync contacts" check box and tap "Sync now"
Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:
- Open the "Contacts" app
- Access the "Contacts" tab
- Press the "Menu" key and tap "Settings"
- Tap "Contacts" and then go to "import / Export" > "Import from SD card"
- Select an account and load the desired VCF file
Media File Restoration
Restoring Media Files from the Phone's Storage:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch "My Files" and tap "All files"
- Tap "SD card"
- Press "Menu" and tap "Select"
- Mark the check boxes associated with the desired files and folders
- Press "menu" and tap "move"
- Tap "Device storage"
- Navigate to where you wish to restore the files and tap "move here"
- To restore the files in a different location, tap "Create folder" > "move here"
Restoring Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 to your computer via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
- Click "open device to view files"
- Launch a second Windows Explorer window and locate the media files that are backed up on the computer
- Copy the desired files and paste them in the "Phone" or "Card" directory of your phone
- Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from the PC by clicking the "mass storage device" icon from the system tray
Restoring Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Establish a connection between the Galaxy Ace 4 and computer via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar down
- Tap "Connected as a media device" and mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
- Open Kies on the Mac computer
- From Kies, click the "Back up / restore" tab
- Access the "Restore" tab
- Mark the "Photo" and "Music" check boxes. To restore all files, mark the "Select all items" check box
- Click "Restore" and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the operation
- Once the files have been restored, you can safely disconnect the Galaxy Ace 4 from the Mac
