Restoring Applications:

  1. Sign in with your Google or Samsung account
  2. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  3. Go to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
  4. Tap "Samsung" or "Google", depending on the type of account you wish to use
  5. Tap the "email address" at the top of the screen
  6. Tap "Sync all"
  7. Press "Back" to return to the "User and Backup" menu
  8. Tap "Backup and reset"
  9. Mark / clear the check boxes next to "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data"

Contact Restoration

Restoring Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:

  1. Sign in with your Google or Samsung account
  2. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  3. Tap "Settings"
  4. Scroll to "User and Backup" and then tap "Accounts"
  5. Tap "Samsung" or "Google", depending on the account that you've used for the backup
  6. Tap your "email address" situated at the top of the screen
  7. Mark the "Sync contacts" check box and tap "Sync now"

Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:

  1. Open the "Contacts" app
  2. Access the "Contacts" tab
  3. Press the "Menu" key and tap "Settings"
  4. Tap "Contacts" and then go to "import / Export" > "Import from SD card"
  5. Select an account and load the desired VCF file

Media File Restoration

Restoring Media Files from the Phone's Storage:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch "My Files" and tap "All files"
  3. Tap "SD card"
  4. Press "Menu" and tap "Select"
  5. Mark the check boxes associated with the desired files and folders
  6. Press "menu" and tap "move"
  7. Tap "Device storage"
  8. Navigate to where you wish to restore the files and tap "move here"
  9. To restore the files in a different location, tap "Create folder" > "move here"

Restoring Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  3. Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
  4. Click "open device to view files"
  5. Launch a second Windows Explorer window and locate the media files that are backed up on the computer
  6. Copy the desired files and paste them in the "Phone" or "Card" directory of your phone
  7. Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from the PC by clicking the "mass storage device" icon from the system tray

Restoring Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Establish a connection between the Galaxy Ace 4 and computer via USB
  2. Swipe the "Status" bar down
  3. Tap "Connected as a media device" and mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
  4. Open Kies on the Mac computer
  5. From Kies, click the "Back up / restore" tab
  6. Access the "Restore" tab
  7. Mark the "Photo" and "Music" check boxes. To restore all files, mark the "Select all items" check box
  8. Click "Restore" and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the operation
  9. Once the files have been restored, you can safely disconnect the Galaxy Ace 4 from the Mac
