Transferring Contacts using a Google Account:
By syncing the contacts stored on the HTC One Mini with a Google account, you can easily transfer the contacts to the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini by re-syncing the contacts from Google with your Galaxy S5 Mini. This is one of the most common methods of contact transfer and it can be performed by following the steps below:
- On the HTC One Mini, sign in with your Google account
- While on the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down with two fingers
- Tap "Settings" and scroll to "Personal"
- Tap "Accounts & sync"
- Tap "Google" and then choose an account
- Press "Menu" and tap "Sync all". Alternatively, you can sync the contacts by clearing and marking the check box next to the aforementioned category
- On the Galaxy S5 Mini, sign in with the same Google account
- Tap "Apps" from the home screen
- Go to "Settings" and swipe to "User and Backup"
- Tap "Accounts"
- Press "Menu" > "Sync all". The contacts stored on the Google account will now be shared with your smartphone
Using the "Import / Export" Function for Contact Transfer:
You can use the "People" and "Contacts" applications in order to export and import the contacts stored on the One Mini. The exported VCF file can then be transferred over to the Galaxy S5 Mini either vie email or by using a computer:
- On the HTC One Mini (M7), open the "People" app
- Access the "People" tab
- Press "Menu" and then tap "Manage contacts"
- Tap "Import / Export contacts" > "export to phone storage" / SD card
- Choose an account if necessary, and write down the VCF file's name before pressing "OK"
- After you have obtained the file, open the email app
- Compose a new email and attach the VCF file you've just created
- Send the email with the file to your own Gmail address
- On the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, open the email and download the attached file
- Launch the "Contacts" application and then press "Menu"
- Tap "Import / Export" > "import from SD card" / "from storage"
- Browse for the file and load it to import its contents to the phonebook
NOTE: After you have created the vCard file on the One Mini, you can transfer the file to the Galaxy S5 Mini by connecting both smartphones to a computer via USB, and then manually transferring the file from the One Mini to the SGS5 Mini's "sdcard" directory. After the transfer, use the "Contacts" app on the SGS5 Mini to import the contacts
Using "Send Anywhere" to Transfer Contacts:
Using "Send Anywhere" you can transfer the contacts located on the One Mini to the Galaxy S5 Mini with ease, and without needing access to a computer. Send Anywhere is a third party app that can be used to transfer various types of files including contacts, cross-platform over a peer-2-peer connection.
- From the Google Play Store, download "Send Anywhere" on both your devices
- Launch the application on both smartphones
- On the One mini M7, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
- Mark the contacts that you want to send and tap "Send"
- Finally, select the desired method of sharing the contacts. You can tap "Receive" on the Galaxy S5 Mini, and enter the transfer code from the One Mini in order to commence the transfer process. Alternatively, you can tap "Generate QR Code" on the One mini M7, and scan the resulting code with the SGS5 Mini's camera to begin the transfer
