Using iTunes to Transfer Contacts:

iTunes is a great tool that enables you to sync the contacts stored on your iPhone, with a Google account. By doing so, you can easily make the contacts available for Android use, and you can transfer them to an Android device such as the Samsung Galaxy Star 2 by re-syncing the contacts from the account with the aforementioned device. For this method, you need a computer with Internet access and iTunes installed

  1. Open iTunes on the computer
  2. Connect the iPhone to the computer using the proprietary USB cable
  3. Once connected, your iPhone will appear in iTunes. Click it and go to the "Info" tab
  4. Mark the "Sync Contacts With" check box and select "Google Contacts" from the drop-down menu
  5. Register your Google account in iTunes. In case you have done this before, click "Configure" and select an account from the list
  6. To start the syncing process, click "Apply"
  7. Switch over to the Samsung Galaxy Star 2 and register the same Google account. (NOTE: to add an account, go to "Settings" > "Accounts")
  8. Allow Google to sync contacts with your Android smartphone

Using iCloud to Transfer Contacts:

The iCloud backup service can be used to transfer your iPhone contacts in the form of a vCard / VCF file which can then be transferred over to your Galaxy Star 2 via the "Contacts" app. In case you have used iCloud on your iPhone before, then your contacts should already be backed up on your account.

  1. Use your computer's Internet browser to visit https://www.icloud.com/
  2. Sign in with your iCloud account
  3. Click "Contacts" and select the contacts that you wish to share with the Star 2
  4. Click the icon depicting a cog wheel, and select "Export vCard"
  5. Wait for your computer to download the VCF file
  6. Once downloaded, import the file to "Google Contacts", or skip this step and follow the next one instead:
  7. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Star 2 to your computer using the USB cable, and copy the VCF file to the phone's "sdcard" directory. Then, launch the "Contacts" app and go to "Menu" > "import / Export" > "Import from SD" and follow any additional on-screen prompts to complete the operation

Transferring Contacts via My Contacts Backup:

My Contacts Backup is a third party iOS application that allows you to back up your contacts in VCF file format. Once backed up, the contacts can then be shared with the Android smartphone via email. For this method you are not required to have access to a computer!

  1. Visit the App Store and download "My Contacts Backup" on the iPhone
  2. Open the app and tap "Backup"
  3. After the contacts have been backed up, tap "Email" to attach the VCF file to a new email
  4. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  5. Switch over to the Samsung Galaxy Star 2 and open the email containing the VCF file
  6. Download the attached file and use the "Contacts" app together with the "import / export" function in order to import the contacts to your phonebook

Transferring Contacts using "Send Anywhere":

Finally, you can use "Send Anywhere" in order to transfer your contacts cross-platform without the need of a computer. Send Anywhere is an iOS and Android app that uses a P2P connection to transfer contacts and other types of files.

  1. Go to the Google Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on the Galaxy Star 2
  2. Access the App Store and install the app on your iPhone too
  3. Open the application on both smartphones
  4. From the sender device (the iPhone), tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  5. Select the contacts that you want to transfer and touch "Send"
  6. Lastly, choose the desired method of sharing. By tapping "Generate QR Code" on the iPhone, you can generate a code which can be scanned with the Star 2's camera to commence the transfer. Otherwise, you can tap "Receive" on the Samsung smartphone, and then type in the randomly generated transfer code from the iPhone
