Enabling Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Press "Menu" while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to "My device"
  3. Tap the "Power saving mode" switch and set it to "ON"
  4. Tap "Power saving mode" and further customize the mode by marking or clearing the check boxes

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. From any home screen, press "Menu"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Access the "My device" tab and go to "Display"
  4. Tap "Brightness" and if necessary, clear the "Automatic brightness" check box
  5. Drag the brightness slider to the left and set it to a lower level
  6. Tap "OK" and then go to "Screen timeout"
  7. Select a lower value such as "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and HotSpot:

NOTE: A smartphones connectivity features require a lot of energy to function, so it's highly recommended that you disable most connectivity features (such as GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) whenever they are not in use. To do so:

  1. Press "Menu" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Access the "Connections" tab
  4. Tap "More networks" > "Tethering & Mobile HotSpot"
  5. Tap the mobile hotspot switch and set it to "OFF"
  6. Return to the home screen and swipe the "Status" bar down
  7. Tap the icons associated with "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "GPS" to disable these features

Changing Sync Settings for Apps:

NOTE: setting your applications to sync less data or less often can improve battery life on the long ro.

  1. Press "Menu" from the home screen and go to "Settings"
  2. Tap the "Accounts" tab
  3. Swipe to "My accounts" and select an account type
  4. Adjust the available sync settings for the selected account type
  5. Tap your "email address" or "user name" and adjust more sync settings

Disabling Background Data:

  1. From the home screen, press "Menu"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Go to "Connections" and tap "Data usage"
  4. Press "Menu" and mark the "Restrict background data" check box

Minimizing the Use of 3rd Party Apps:

NOTE: Even though you may not use a certain 3rd party app, some applications can still impact your phone's battery performance as they run processes and services in the background. As such, it's recommended that you disable or uninstall unused apps

  1. Tap "Menu" from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and access "More"
  3. Tap "Application manager"
  4. Access the "Downloaded" screen
  5. Select an application and tap "Disable" to turn it off
  6. To remove the app, tap "uninstall" instead, and confirm with "OK"

Switching from 4G to 2G:

  1. Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Access the "Connections" tab
  3. Tap "More networks" > "Mobile networks"
  4. Tap "Network mode" and mark the "GSM only" check box
  5. To switch back to 4G, tap "LTE / GSM / WCDMA (Auto connect)" or "GSM / WCDMA (auto connect)"

Keeping Your Smartphone Update:

NOTE: New software updates oftentimes include improvements to the phone's battery life, so it's highly recommended that you keep your smartphone up to date. To check for updates:

  1. Press "Menu" while viewing a home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to "More"
  3. Tap "About device" > "Software update"
  4. If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it

NOTE: If no software update is available, performing the steps below will have no effect on your phone's battery performance
