WARNING! Once you master reset your smartphone, all the settings will be restored to factory values, and all the personal data stored on the phone's internal storage will be deleted, including downloaded content, apps, ringtones, images, contacts etc. Data located on the SD and SIM cards will not be deleted.

Master Resetting via Settings Menu:

  1. From the home screen, press "Menu"
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to the "Accounts" tab
  3. Tap "Backup and reset" under "Backup options"
  4. Optionally, clear the check boxes next to "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data"
  5. Tap "Factory data reset" > "Reset device"
  6. Assuming that your smartphone is screen locked by PIN, password or pattern, enter the necessary information and tap "Continue"
  7. Lastly, tap "Delete all" to confirm

Master Resetting via Hardware Keys:

NOTE: In case you are unable to reset your smartphone via the settings menu as explained above, you can still apply the master reset through a combination of key presses, and via the recovery menu. To do so:

  1. Turn off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Volume Up", "Power" and "Home" buttons at the same time
  3. Once your phone vibrates, release the "Power" button but keep pressing the other two keys
  4. At the "Android System Recovery" screen, release all the hardware keys
  5. Press the "Volume down" button to navigate to and highlight "wipe data / factory reset"
  6. Press the "Power" key to select the highlighted option
  7. Use "Volume down" to highlight "delete all user data" and press "Power"
  8. The smartphone will factory reset, and once the process is done "Reboot system now" will be highlighted
  9. Press "Power" to reboot your smartphone

Updating Your Device:

NOTE: After a factory reset, all the previous software updates will be lost as well. As such, it's highly recommended that you update your handset's OS immediately after the factory reset has been applied. To do so:

  1. Make sure your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Press "Menu" while on the home screen
  3. Tap "Settings" and access the "More" tab
  4. Tap "About device" > "Software update"
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the latest updates
