WARNING! When you master reset your smartphone, all personal data stored on the phone's internal memory will be lost, including apps, ringtones, images, downloaded content, contacts etc. Master resetting will also return your phone's settings to factory values, and all previous software updates will be lost. However, data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.

NOTE: Before you master reset your Ace NXT, you can visit this thread for a full guide on how you can back up your data, and this thread for instructions on how you can restore data from backups.

Master Resetting via the Settings Menu:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press "Menu"
  2. Tap "Settings" and access the "Accounts" tab
  3. Tap "Backup and reset" under "Backup options"
  4. Optionally, you can clear the check boxes associated with "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data"
  5. Tap "Factory data reset" > "Reset device"
  6. If your smartphone is protected by a password or PIN, enter it and then tap "Continue"
  7. To confirm and reset your device, tap "Delete all"

Master Resetting via Hardware Keys:

NOTE: Assuming that you are unable to master reset your smartphone via the settings menu, then you can use a combination of hardware key presses in order to master reset your device via Android System Recovery. To do so:

  1. Turn off your Galaxy Ace NXT
  2. Press and hold the "Volume Up", "Home" and "Power" buttons at the same time
  3. After the phone vibrates, release the "Power" key but keep holding the other two
  4. At the "Android System Recovery" screen, release the "Home" and "Volume down" buttons as well
  5. From the recovery screen, press "Volume down" to navigate to and highlight "wipe data / factory reset"
  6. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
  7. Use "Volume down" to highlight "delete all user data" and press "Power"
  8. Your smartphone will now master reset
  9. At the "Reboot system now" message, press "Power" and your device will restart

Updating Your Smartphone's OS:

NOTE: After you factory reset your smartphone, all previous software updates will be lost. As such, it's recommended that you update your smartphone shortly after the master reset has been applied. To check for updates:

  1. Ensure that your Ace NXT is connected to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Press the "Menu" key while on a home screen
  3. Tap "Settings" and go to the "More" tab
  4. Tap "About device" and go to "Software updates"
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the latest software updates
