Transferring Contacts using iTunes:

If you have iTunes installed on your computer, you can use the application to sync the contacts stored on your iPhone with a Google account. This will allow you to easily transfer the contacts over to the SGS5 LTE-A, by re-syncing the contacts from the account, with your Android device.

  1. Open iTunes on your computer
  2. Establish a USB connection between the iPhone and computer
  3. After it connects, the smartphone will appear in iTunes. Click it to view its summary page
  4. Access the "Info" tab and mark the check box next to "Sync Contacts With"
  5. From the drop-down list, select "Google Contacts"
  6. In iTunes, add the Google account you wish to use for syncing. If you've added an account prior to following this guide, you can click "Configure" and select an account from the list
  7. Click "Apply" to start the syncing process
  8. Once the contacts have been synced, pick up the Galaxy S5 LTE-A and add the same Google account. Then, allow the account to sync contacts with your Android device

Transfer Contacts via iCloud:

In case you have used the iCloud backup service on your iPhone before, then your iPhone contacts should be backed up on your iCloud account. You can access your account using your computer's Internet browser, and export the contacts for Android use. To do so:

  1. Launch the Internet browser on your computer
  2. Visit https://www.icloud.com/ and log in with your iCloud account
  3. Click "Contacts"
  4. Select the contacts you wish to export and click the cog wheel button
  5. Select "Export vCard" and wait for the VCF file to be downloaded on your computer
  6. Once downloaded, import the vCard file to "Google Contacts". Alternatively, skip this step and instead:
  7. Connect the SGS5 LTE-A to your computer via USB, and transfer the VCF file to the phone's storage. Then, open the "Contacts" application on your smartphone, press "Menu" and tap "Settings" > "Contracts" > "Import / Export". Follow any additional steps to choose an account if necessary, and complete the import process

Using "My Contacts Backup":

Up until now the methods described above require access to a computer. However, you can also transfer your contacts with the help of third party applications like "My Contacts Backup". This iOS app can back up your iPhone contacts, and transfer them to a different device via email:

  1. Go to the App Store and install "My Contacts Backup" on the iPhone
  2. Open the application and tap "Backup". This will create a backup file containing all your contacts
  3. Once the file is created, tap "Email" to compose a new email with the VCF file attached to it
  4. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  5. On the SGS5 LTE-A, open the email and download the attached VCF file
  6. Import the file's contents to your phonebook, by using the "Contacts" app and the "Import" option

Via "Send Anywhere":

Last but not least, you can use "Send Anywhere" - an iOS and Android application - for transferring contacts cross platform through a peer-2-peer connection, without needing access to a computer. To use this method:

  1. Visit the App Store and download "Send Anywhere" on the iPhone
  2. Access the Google Play Store and download the same app on your Samsung device
  3. Open the application on both smartphones
  4. On the iPhone, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  5. Select the contacts you wish to transfer and tap "Send"
  6. Lastly, select the desired method of transfer. By tapping "Receive" on the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, you can enter the randomly generated transfer code from the iPhone to begin the transfer. Otherwise, you can also tap "Generate QR Code" on the iPhone, and scan the code with the Galaxy S5 LTE-A's camera to begin the transfer
