Back Up Applications:

  1. Press "Menu" from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Tap the "Accounts" tab
  4. Tap "Backup and reset"
  5. In order to proceed you need to be signed in to a Google account. If necessary tap "Backup account" > "Add account"
  6. Check the boxes associated with "Backup my data" and "Backup account"

Back Up Contacts (Using a Samsung or Google Account):

  1. Tap "Contacts" on the home screen
  2. Press "Menu" and tap "Merge accounts"
  3. Tap "Merge with Google" or "Merge with Samsung"
  4. Sign in to your Google or Samsung account

Back Up Contacts (on the SD Card):

  1. Ensure the proper SD card is inserted
  2. Tap "Contacts" on the home screen
  3. Press "Menu" and tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
  4. Tap "Menu" > "Import / Export"
  5. Tap "Export to SD card"
  6. Make sure you remember the backup file's name for future use and tap "OK"

Back Up Media Files

Using the SD Card:

  1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen
  2. Open "My Files"
  3. Tap "Device storage". NOTE: to back up all of your files, press "Menu" > "Select all" and skip to step 5
  4. Navigate to the desired folders and mark the check boxes associated with the media files you want to back up
  5. Tap the "Menu" icon and select "Copy", or tap "Move" to avoid creating duplicates
  6. Tap "SD memory card"
  7. Navigate to the desired backup folder and tap "Paste here" or "Move here"

Using a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Galaxy V Plus to the computer via USB
  2. Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device (MTP)"
  3. From the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  4. Locate the media files you want to back up (NOTE: the "Card" icon represents the SD storage whereas the "Phone" icon is associated with the phone's internal memory).
  5. Copy the media files you want, and paste them in the desired backup location on your computer
  6. Once the transfer is done eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone

Using a Mac Computer:

NOTE: Skip the first 2 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac

  1. On the Mac, use your Internet explorer to navigate to Kies
  2. Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
  3. Connect the V Plus to your computer via USB
  4. Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
  5. Launch Kies on the computer and click the "Back up / restore" tab
  6. Click the "Backup" tab
  7. Mark the check boxes associated with "Music", "Photo", and / or other directories containing media files
  8. Click "Backup"
  9. Once the process is done, drag the phone's virtual storage drive to the "trash can" / "eject", and safely disconnect the phone from the computer
