Back Up Apps:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- From the Accounts tab, tap Backup and reset
- You need to be logged in to a Google account to proceed. If necessary, tap Backup account > Add account
- If necessary, tap to enable Backup my data and Backup account
Back Up Contacts on a Samsung or Google Account:
- Tap Contacts on the home screen
- Tap Menu > Merge accounts
- Select to Merge with Google or Merge with Samsung
- If necessary, sign in to your Samsung or Google account
Back Up Contacts on the SD Card:
- Make sure the SD card is inserted
- Launch Contacts
- Tap Menu > Contacts to display
- Tap All contacts
- Press Menu > Import / Export
- Tap Export to SD card > OK (Make sure you recall the files name for future use)
Back Up Media Files
Using the SD card:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Launch My Files
- Tap All files > Device storage. NOTE: to back up all of your files, press Menu > Select all, and skip to step 6
- Locate the folders containing the desired media files you want to back up. Usual folders of interest are DCIM, Notifications, Downloads, "Music etc.
- Mark the check box associated with the items you want to back up
- Tap the Menu icon in the upper-right corner
- Tap Copy, or Move to avoid creating duplicates
- Tap SD memory card and navigate to the desired backup folder
- Tap Paste here (or Move here if necessary)
Using a Windows Computer:
- Connect the S4 mini Plus to your computer via USB
- Swipe the Status bar down, tap Connected as a media device and enable Media device (MTP)
- On the computer in the AutoPlay window, click to Open device to view files using Windows Explorer
- Locate the desired media files, in the Card and Phone directories
- Copy the files and transfer them in the desired backup location on the computer
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect it from the PC
Using a Mac Computer:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Kies is already installed on your Mac
- Open the Internet browser and visit Kies
- Click Download for Mac OS
- Follow the on-screen steps to install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Galaxy S4 mini Plus to the computer via USB
- If necessary, swipe the Status bar down and enable Media sync (MTP)
- Launch Kies on the computer
- In Kies, click the Back up / restore tab
- Access the Backup tab and mark the check box(es) next to Music, Photo and other media files you want to back up
- To proceed, click Backup and wait for the process to complete. Then, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect it from the Mac
