Restore Applications:

  1. On the phone, sign into the Google account used for the initial backup
  2. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  3. Go to “Settings”
  4. Tap the “Accounts” tab
  5. Tap “Google” > “Sync all”
  6. Press “Back” and tap “Backup and reset”
  7. Check / clear the boxes next to “Backup my data” and “Automatic restore”

Restore Contacts:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap the “Accounts” tab
  3. Tap “Google” or “Samsung” depending on the type of account you used for the initial backup
  4. Tap your “email address” at the top of the screen
  5. Enable the “Sync contacts” check box, and tap “Sync now”

Restore Contacts from the SD Card:

  1. Ensure the SD card containing the backup file is installed
  2. Open “Contacts”
  3. Press “Menu” > “Contacts to display” > “All contacts”
  4. Tap “menu” > “Import / Export”
  5. Select to “Import from SD card”
  6. Browse for, and select the backup file to restore its contents

Restore Media Files

From an SD Card:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Launch “My Files”
  3. Tap “All files” > “SD card”
  4. Locate the backed up media files on the SD card
  5. Tap and hold the file you want to restore, and select “Move”
  6. When the phone displays the available memory location, you can proceed or tap the folder name or “Create new” to select a different location
  7. When ready, tap “Move here"

From a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Galaxy S4 mini Plus to the computer via USB
  2. If necessary, enable “Media Sync (MTP)” from the status area
  3. From the AutoPlay window on the PC, double-click “Open device to view files using Windows Explorer”
  4. Open a second Explorer window and locate the media files backed up on your computer
  5. Copy the files, and transfer them back on your phone’s storage/ SD card
  6. When the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect it

From a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the S4 mini Plus to the Mac via USB
  2. Make sure the phone is connected as a “Media device (MTP)”
  3. Launch Kies on the Mac
  4. In Kies, click the “Back up / restore” tab
  5. Click the “Restore” tab
  6. Mark the check box associated with “Music”, “Photo”, and other types of media files you want to restore. Optionally click “Select all items”
  7. Click “Restore” and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
  8. When done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive icon in the Trash can, and safely disconnect the phone from the Mac
