NOTE: To learn how you can back up app data, contacts, and media files on the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini Plus, visit this thread for a full guide.
Restore Applications:
- On the phone, sign into the Google account used for the initial backup
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap the Accounts tab
- Tap Google > Sync all
- Press Back and tap Backup and reset
- Check / clear the boxes next to Backup my data and Automatic restore
Restore Contacts:
- Go to the phones Settings menu
- Tap the Accounts tab
- Tap Google or Samsung depending on the type of account you used for the initial backup
- Tap your email address at the top of the screen
- Enable the Sync contacts check box, and tap Sync now
Restore Contacts from the SD Card:
- Ensure the SD card containing the backup file is installed
- Open Contacts
- Press Menu > Contacts to display > All contacts
- Tap menu > Import / Export
- Select to Import from SD card
- Browse for, and select the backup file to restore its contents
Restore Media Files
From an SD Card:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Launch My Files
- Tap All files > SD card
- Locate the backed up media files on the SD card
- Tap and hold the file you want to restore, and select Move
- When the phone displays the available memory location, you can proceed or tap the folder name or Create new to select a different location
- When ready, tap Move here"
From a Windows PC:
- Connect the Galaxy S4 mini Plus to the computer via USB
- If necessary, enable Media Sync (MTP) from the status area
- From the AutoPlay window on the PC, double-click Open device to view files using Windows Explorer
- Open a second Explorer window and locate the media files backed up on your computer
- Copy the files, and transfer them back on your phones storage/ SD card
- When the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect it
From a Mac Computer:
- Connect the S4 mini Plus to the Mac via USB
- Make sure the phone is connected as a Media device (MTP)
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- In Kies, click the Back up / restore tab
- Click the Restore tab
- Mark the check box associated with Music, Photo, and other types of media files you want to restore. Optionally click Select all items
- Click Restore and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
- When done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive icon in the Trash can, and safely disconnect the phone from the Mac
