Restore Applications:

  1. Sign in with the Google or Samsung account you used for the initial backup
  2. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  3. Swipe to “User and Backup” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select “Google” or “Samsung” depending on the type of account you used for the backup
  5. Tap your “email address” at the top of the screen
  6. Tap “Sync all”
  7. Press “Back” to return to the “User and Backup” menu
  8. Tap “Backup and reset”
  9. Under “Backup and Restore”, check/clear the “Back up my data" and “Automatic restore” options

Restore Contacts From a Samsung or Google Account:

  1. If necessary, sign in with the Samsung / Google account used for backing up your contacts
  2. Go to “Settings’
  3. Tap “Accounts” under “User and Backup”
  4. Select either “Google” or “Samsung”
  5. Tap your “email address” and if necessary, check the “Sync Contacts” box
  6. Tap “menu” > “Sync now”

Restore Media Files From a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Galaxy Note 5 to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the “Status” bar down
  3. Tap “Connected as a media device” and enable “Media device (MTP)”
  4. In the AutoPlay window on the computer, click “Open device to view files”
  5. Navigate to the directory where you want to restore media files on the phone
  6. Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the backed up media files on your computer
  7. Copy the files and transfer them on your phone’s memory
  8. Once done, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB

Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the Note 5 and Mac
  2. Ensure the Note 5 is connected as a “Media device (MTP)”
  3. Launch Kies on the Mac
  4. Inside Kies, click the “Back up / restore” tab
  5. Click the “Restore” tab
  6. Click the check box associated with “Music”, “Photo” or any other type of media file you want to restore. (Optionally, enable “Select all items”)
  7. Click “Restore” and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
  8. When done, drag the phone storage to the “trash can” and safely disconnect the device from the USB connector
