Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications doesn’t work as intended or takes up too much storage space, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! Clearing an app’s data will result in the deletion of all personal information stored within the application, including login information, profiles, high scores, saved games, credit card information etc. As such, to avoid losing personal data, you should try fixing the issues by clearing the app’s cache.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Applications” and tap “Application manager”
  4. Go to the “Downloaded” or “All” tab
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Clear cache”
  6. If clearing the cache didn’t help, you can tap “Clear data” > “OK”

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone doesn’t work as intended, it freezes, crashes etc. then you might be able to fix these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can have a similar effect as a factory reset, without losing any of your personal data.

  1. Turn off the phone
  2. Press and hold “Power”, “Volume Up” and “Home” at the same time
  3. Once the phone powers up, release all buttons
  4. After an Android logo pops-up, you should gain access to the Android System Recovery menu
  5. Press “Volume down” in the Recovery menu to highlight “wipe cache partition”
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. After the cache is wiped, make sure “Reboot system now” is highlighted, and press “Power”

Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party app that causes problems on your phone and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to easily remove the app from Safe Mode. In this mode all third party applications are disabled.

  1. Turn off the phone
  2. Press and hold “Power”
  3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. After the phone reboots, a “Safe mode” label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen. Release all buttons after the reboot
  5. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  6. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
  7. Tap “Application manager”
  8. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  9. Tap “Uninstall” twice to confirm
  10. To exit safe mode, press and hold “Power” and then tap “Restart”
