NOTE: You can visit this thread to learn how you can back up data on the Samsung Galaxy A5.
Restore App Data:
- Sign in with the Google or Samsung account used for the initial backup
- Launch Settings
- Tap Accounts under User and Backup
- Select Samsung or Google and tap your email address or user name
- Tap Sync all
- Tap Back to return to User and Backup
- Tap Backup and reset
- Check / uncheck Back up my data and Automatic restore under Backup and restore
Restore Contacts From an SD Card:
- Tap Apps and access Settings
- Scroll to Applications
- Tap Contacts
- If necessary, tap Contacts to display and switch to All contacts
- Tap Import / Export > Import from SD card
Restore Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Accounts under User and Backup
- Tap Google or Samsung, depending on the type of account used for the initial backup
- Tap your email address and make sure Sync contacts is enabled
- Tap Sync now
Restore Media Files
From an SD Card:
- Open the apps drawer and launch My Files
- Tap All files > SD card
- Tap Menu > Select
- Mark the check box associated with the files you want to restore
- Tap Menu > Move > Device storage
- Navigate to the desired location and tap Move here (Or, tap Create folder or the folder name to paste the media files in a different location)
From a Windows PC:
- Connect the Galaxy A5 to your computer
- Drag the Status bar down and enable Media device (MTP)
- Launch an Explorer window on the PC
- Locate and copy the media files backed up on your computer
- Paste the file back on the phone storage, preferably in the Media directory
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via the system tray, and safely disconnect the phone from the USB connector
Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Connect the Galaxy A5 to your Mac via USB
- Make sure the phone is connected as a Media device (MTP)
- Open Kies on the Mac and access the Back up / restore tab
- Click Restore
- Mark the check box associated with Music, Photos, and other types of media files you wish to restore
- Click Restore and follow the on-screen steps to complete
- Once the restore is complete, eject the phone storage by dragging its virtual drive into the trash can icon
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB connector
