Back Up App Data:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Tap Backup & reset under Personal
- You can enable Back up my data to back up Wi-Fi passwords, account data, and settings to your Google account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow your account to automatically restore data the next time you sign in
Back Up Contacts on a Google Account:
- Access the Settings menu
- Tap Accounts and select an account type (Google)
- Select your account
- Make sure Contacts is selected
- Tap More > Sync now
Back Up Contacts to Storage / SD:
- Open the phones Settings menu
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Applications > Contacts
- Tap Import / Export contacts
- Tap Export and select SD card or Storage
- Make sure you remember the file name for future use
- Tap OK to confirm and export (back up) the file
Back Up Media Files
On the SD Card:
- Make sure the SD card is installed on your phone
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch My Files
- Tap Device storage under Local storage
- Tap More > Edit
- Locate the media files you want to back up
- Tick the boxes associated with the desired media files
- Tap More > Copy > SD card
- Tap Create folder or navigate to the desired backup folder
- Tap Paste here
On a Windows PC:
- Connect the Galaxy J7 to your PC via USB
- Drag the Status bar down on the home screen
- Ensure Media device (MTP) is selected
- On the PC, open the File Explorer
- Locate the media files on the phone and copy them
- Transfer the media files in the desired backup location on the phone
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
On a Mac Computer:
NOTE: In case Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac then skip the first 3 steps below.
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac and install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Galaxy J7 to your computer via USB
- On the phones home screen, drag the Status bar down
- Make sure Media device (MTP) is enabled
- Switch to the Mac and launch Kies
- Inside Kies, click the Back up / restore tab
- Click the Backup tab
- Select Music, Photos, and other types of media files you want to back up
- Click Backup and wait for the process to end
- Once done, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop and into the Trash can to eject it
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
