Restore Contacts from an Account:

  1. Sign in with the Google account used for the initial backup
  2. Go to the “Settings” menu
  3. Scroll to “User and Backup” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select “Google”
  5. Tap your “user name” or “email address” at the top
  6. Make sure “Contacts” is selected
  7. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Restore Contacts from SD / Storage:

  1. If the vCard backup file is located on the SD card, make sure the card is installed on the phone first
  2. Next, open the apps drawer
  3. Go to “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device”
  5. Tap “Applications” > “Contacts”
  6. Tap “Import / Export contacts”
  7. Select “Import” and choose “SD card” or “Storage”, depending on the location of the vCard file
  8. Choose to import / restore a single vCard or multiple vCards
  9. Select the desired vCard, and choose to restore its contents on “Device storage” or sync them with your “Google” account

Restore Media Files

From an SD Card:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “My Files”
  3. Under “Local storage”, tap “SD card”
  4. Tap “More” > “Edit”
  5. Tick the check boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
  6. Tap “More” > “Move” > “Device storage”
  7. Navigate to the desired target folder or tap “Create Folder”
  8. Tap “Move here”

From a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Galaxy J7 to your PC via USB
  2. Swipe the “Status” bar down and make sure “Media device (MTP)” is selected
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the PC
  4. Locate the media files backed up on the HDD
  5. Copy the files and paste them on the phone storage, in the “Media” directory or the folder they originate from
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray
  7. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

From a Mac Computer:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the Mac and Galaxy J7
  2. From the notification area, make sure the phone is connected as a “Media device (MTP)”
  3. Open Kies on the Mac
  4. Click the “Back up / restore” tab inside Kies
  5. Click the “Restore” tab
  6. Tick the boxes associated with “Music”, “Photo”, and other types of media files. Alternatively, tap “Select all”
  7. Click “Restore” and follow the on-screen steps to complete
  8. Once the process is done, eject the phone storage by dragging > dropping the virtual drive from the desktop and into the “Trash can”
  9. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
