Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your applications doesnt work as intended, freezes, crashes, or otherwise takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! Clearing an apps data will result in the deletion of all your personal information stored within the app, including profiles, credit card and login details, saved games, settings, high scores etc. To avoid losing data, try fixing the app by clearing only the cache.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Applications and access Application Manager
- Swipe to the All or Downloaded screen
- Select the desired app and tap Clear cache
- In case clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check the WARNING above)
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your smartphone doesnt work as indented and youre considering factory resetting it, you might be able to fix the issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have a similar effect as a factory reset, but by clearing the cache you wont lose any personal data stored on the internal memory. To clear the cache:
- If necessary, turn off the phone
- Press and hold Home, Volume up and Power at the same time
- When the Samsung logo appears, release Power
- At the Android logo, release the other two hardware keys and wait for the Recovery menu to appear (this may take up to 1 minute)
- From the Android System Recovery menu, press Volume down repeatedly to navigate to and highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to confirm
- After the cache is cleared, Reboot system now will be highlighted
- Press Power one last time to confirm and restart your phone
NOTE: In case clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the Samsung Galaxy Express Prime.
Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: Assuming that you have installed a third party application that causes problems on your phone and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to easily remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled. To reboot into Safe Mode:
- Make sure the phone is turned off
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and quickly press and hold Volume Down instead
- When the phone finishes restarting, a Safe mode label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen. You can now release Volume down
- Open the phones Settings menu and scroll to Device
- Tap Applications > Application manager
- Access the Downloaded tab
- Select the desired application and tap Uninstall twice to remove it
- Once done, you can exit safe mode by pressing & holding Power, and tapping Restart
