Enable Power Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Under System, tap Battery
- Tap Power saving mode and set the feature to ON
- Select a battery percentage at which Power Saving Mode enables automatically
Disable Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth When Unused:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity options when they are not in use (including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth), you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Connections
- Tap Tethering & Mobile Hotspot and set the option to OFF
- Return to the home-screen and swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the tiles associated with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) to disable these features
Temporarily Switch to 2G:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you wish to conserve battery life until the next recharge, you can do so by temporarily switching to 2G connectivity.
- Go to Settings
- Under Connections, tap More connection settings
- Tap Mobile networks
- Tap Network mode and turn on GSM only
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Launch Settings
- Tap Display under Device
- Tap Screen timeout
- Select a lower value, such as 15 seconds
- From the Display menu, disable Automatic brightness if necessary
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side to decrease luminosity
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some apps perform regular background processes, and thus they can affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap Applications > Application manager
- Access Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- Tap Force stop / Disable to turn the app off
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your accounts / apps to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account and clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
- Tap Menu
- Press Sync now
Disable Background Data:
- Launch Settings
- Under Connections, tap Data usage
- Tap More
- Tap Restrict background data
- Tap OK to confirm
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so its recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To verify if new updates are available:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to System
- Tap About device
- Tap System updates and check whether a new update is available
- If necessary, follow the on-screen steps to download and install updates (NOTE: this process will require a reboot)
