Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Backup & Reset
- Turn Back up my data ON to back up app data, settings, passwords etc. to your Google account
- Turn Automatic Restore ON to allow app data etc. to be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Google account
Back Up Contacts on a Samsung or Google Account:
- Open Contacts
- Tap More
- Go to Settings
- In case some of your contacts havent been synced with your account yet, you can tap Move device contacts to
- Tap Settings > Accounts
- Select an account with which to sync the contacts
- Tap More > Sync Now
NOTE: The contacts backed up using this method can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your Google or Samsung account.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Launch the Internet browser on the computer
- Visit Samsung Smart Switch?
- Click Samsung Smart Switch for PC and follow the on-screen steps to install the app
- Connect the smartphone to your computer via USB
- Enable Media device (MTP) / File Transfer (MTP) at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the desired media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Follow the first 5 steps above
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the computer storage
- Copy and transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the Media directory or the folder(s) they originate from
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: In case Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac and follow the on-screen prompts to install the app on the Mac
- Connect the Samsung phone to your Mac via USB
- Turn On File Transfer (MTP) / Media device (MTP) when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open Kies on the Mac and go to Back up / restore
- Access the Backup tab
- Tick the boxes associated with Photos, Music and other media file types you want to back up
- Click Backup to start the process
- After the backup is done, eject the phone storage by dragging and dropping the phones virtual drive from the desktop and into the trash can
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Follow the first 6 steps above
- Then access the Restore tab
- Tick the boxes associated with Music, Photos and other media file types you want to restore
- Click Restore
- Follow the on-scree prompts until you complete the process
- Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the Trash can
- You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
