Turn Battery Saving Mode ON:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to System and tap Battery
- Turn Battery saving mode ON
- Tap Start power saving
- Select a battery percentage at which the mode turns ON automatically
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Display and enable or disable Automatic brightness
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Return to Display and tap Screen timeout
- Select a lower timeout value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features and Use 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run. Furthermore, if you run low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can temporarily switch to 2G networks to conserve battery life until the next recharge.
- Go to Settings
- Access Connections
- Tap to disable the desired connectivity options
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and disable the option
- To switch to 2G networks, scroll to Connections
- Tap More connection settings
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Enable GSM only
Disable Background Data:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Connections
- Tap Data usage > More
- Tap Restrict background data > OK
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes, and thus they can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Applications > Application manager
- Go to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Disable / Force Stop to disable the app
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts / apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account type and the desired account
- Clear the tick boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
- Tap Menu > Sync Now to confirm
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Some OS updates can include battery life improvements, and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to System
- Tap About device and follow the on-screen steps to download and apply any available updates
