Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: In case one of your applications crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise it doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, you will delete all personal data stored within the app, including login information, credit card information, high scores, user profiles, game save files etc. To avoid losing data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Applications
- Go to Application manager
- Access the Downloaded or All tabs
- Select the desired app and tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK to confirm (read WARNING above)
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and youre considering factory resetting, alternatively you can try clearing the phones cache partition to save these issues. Doing so can yield similar results to a factory reset without losing personal data.
- Turn off the phone if necessary
- Press and hold Power, Home and Volume Up at the same time
- When the Samsung logo appears, release Power
- At the Android logo, release Home and Volume Up too
- In the Android Recovery menu, press Volume down to navigate to and highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Once the cache is cleared highlight Reboot system now
- Press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.
Reboot in Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you can remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled.
- If necessary, turn the phone OFF
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- After the phone reboots, release Volume down. NOTE: a Save Mode watermark should be visible in the lower-left corner of the home screen
- To remove an app, first launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Application manager and go to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall twice to confirm
- After the app has been removed, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone as you would do normally
