Enable Power Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “System” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Power saving mode” and enable the option
  5. Select a battery percentage at which the mode enables automatically

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when unused – including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS – you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Connections”
  3. Tap “Tethering & Mobile hotspot” and set the switch OFF
  4. Return to the home screen and swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  5. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) quick toggles to turn the features OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Connections”
  3. Tap “More connection settings”
  4. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Network mode”
  5. Select “GSM Only”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  3. Tap “Screen timeout” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”
  4. Optionally from the “Display” menu, you can turn “Automatic brightness” On or Off
  5. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease brightness

Disable Background Data:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Connections”
  3. Tap “Data usage” > “More”
  4. Tap “Restrict background data” > “OK” to confirm

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus, by removing or disabling unused third party apps form the phone, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Applications”
  3. Tap “Application manager”
  4. Swipe to “Download”
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to turn the app OFF
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Setting:

NOTE: By changing your accounts/apps sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts”
  4. Select the desired account
  5. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
  6. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new OS updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “System”
  3. Tap “About device” > “System updates”
  4. Assuming an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it. (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
