Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to System
- Tap Battery and enable Battery saving mode
- Tap Start power saving
- Select a battery percentage at which the mode will enable automatically
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Tap Display under Device
- Optionally, turn Automatic brightness On or Off
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Go back to Display
- Tap Screen timeout
- Select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features and Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run. In addition, if your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Go to Contacts
- Select to disable the available connectivity options
- Next, tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and disable the option
- To use 2G networks, open Connections
- Tap More connection settings
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Select GSM only
Disable Background Data:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Connections and tap Data usage
- Tap More > Restrict background data
- Tap OK to confirm
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Applications > Application manager
- Access Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Force Stop / Disable
- Alternatively, to remove the app, tap Uninstall > OK
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select an account type
- Tap the desired account and clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to turn off
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Certain software updates include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to System and tap About device
- Follow the on-screen steps to download and install available updates
