Back Up App Data:
- Open Settings
- Tap Backup & reset under Personal
- Enable Back up my data to back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and app data to your backup account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow app data to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your backup account
Back Up Contacts to the SD Card or Storage:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Applications > Contacts
- Tap Import/Export contacts
- Select to Export and choose Storage or SD Card
- Press OK to confirm
Back Up Contacts on a Google Account:
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select Google and tap the desired account
- Ensure Contacts is checked
- Tap More > Sync Now
Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Launch My Files
- Scroll to Local storage and tap Device storage
- Tap More > Edit
- Locate and select the media files you want to back up
- Tap More > Copy
- Tap SD card
- Select the desired destination folder and optionally, tap Create folder
- Tap Paste here to confirm
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung phone to your computer via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate and copy the media files on the phone storage
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below:
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit Samsung Kies
- Click Kies 3 for Mac to download and install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Samsung phone to your Mac via USB
- Enable Media device / File Transfer at the prompt or form the Notification area
- Tick the check boxes associated with Music, Photos and other file types you want to back up
- Click Backup to start the sync
- Once the backup is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the trash can
- You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
