Back Up App Data:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “Cloud and accounts”
  3. Tap “Backup & restore”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your Google backup account
  5. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open the apps drawer and launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Cloud and accounts”
  3. Access “Accounts”
  4. Select the account you want to use for contact syncing
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

Back Up Contacts to SD Card:

  1. Open “Contacts”
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
  3. If needed, tap “Contacts to display” and select “All contacts”
  4. Tap “Import/Export contacts” > “Export to SD Card”
  5. Press “OK” to confirm

Back Up Media Files On The Phone Storage:

  1. Launch “My Files”
  2. Tap “Internal Storage” > “Menu”
  3. Tap “Share” and select the contacts you want to back up
  4. Tap “Share” again
  5. Select the desired backup location to confirm

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Samsung phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the phone storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB port

Back Up Media File on a Mac:

NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below:

  1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Visit https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
  3. Click “Download for Mac” and install Kies on the computer
  4. Next, connect the Samsung device to the Mac via USB
  5. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  6. Launch Kies on the Mac and go to “Back up / restore”
  7. Access the “Backup” tab and tick the boxes associated with “Music”, “Photos” and other file types you want to back up
  8. Click “Backup” to begin the process
  9. Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can” icon to eject it
  10. You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB port
