Back Up App Data:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap Cloud and accounts
- Tap Backup & restore
- Enable Back up my data to back up settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and account data with your Google account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be automatically restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account
Back Up Contacts:
- Open Settings
- Tap Cloud and accounts > Accounts
- Select the account you want to use for contact syncing
- Make sure Contacts is checked then tap Menu > Sync Now
Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:
- Launch Contacts
- Tap Menu > Settings
- If necessary, tap Contacts to display and select All contacts
- Tap Import/Export contacts > Export to SD card
- Tap OK to confirm
Back Up Media Files on the Phone Storage:
- Launch My Files
- Tap Internal storage > Menu
- Tap Share and select the media files you want to back up
- Tap Share again and select the desired backup location
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the desired media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC
- Once done, safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Back Up Media Files to a Mac:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps in case Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac.
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
- Click Download for Mac and install the app on the computer
- Establish a USB connection between the Android device and Mac
- On the phone, enable File Transfer / Media device at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac and access Back up / restore
- Access the Backup tab
- Tick the check boxes associated with Music, Photos and other media file types you want to back up
- Click Backup to begin the process
- Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it over the trash can
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB port
