Back Up App Data:
- Launch Settings
- Tap Backup & Reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to your backup account
- Enable Automatic Restore to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically the next time you log in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps
Back Up Contacts to Storage or SD Card:
- Open Settings
- Go to Applications > Contacts
- Tap Import/Export contacts
- Tap Export and select Storage or SD Card
- Tap OK to confirm
Back Up Contacts on an Account:
- Open Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select Google
- Tap the desired account
- Ensure Contacts is checked
- Tap More > Sync Now
Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Open My Files
- Scroll to Local storage
- Tap Device storage > More > edit
- Select the media files you want to back up
- Tap More > Copy > SD Card
- Select the desired folder and optionally, tap Create folder
- Tap Paste here to confirm
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- Enable Media device / File Transfer at the prompt or form the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate and copy the media files on the phone storage
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC
- Once done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below:
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Go to https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
- Click Download for Mac and follow the prompts to install the app on the computer
- Next connect the phone to the Mac via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device when prompted or from the Notification area
- Tick the boxes next to Photos, Music and other type of files you want to back up
- When ready, tap Backup to begin the sync
- Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging and dropping the virtual drive from the desktop and into the Trash Can, and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
